Large Self Catering House: Bicclescombe Grange in Ilfracombe, Devon
Bicclescombe Grange is a large detached centrally heated house, formerly a large Gentleman's residence, built around the turn of the last century. The house offers accommodation on three storeys and is furnished in a period style, with a magnificent indoor heated swimming pool plus many other fantastic features.
The Grange lies on the outskirts of Ilfracombe, the main coastal resort on North Devon's beautiful coastline and is set at the end of a private drive, within three acres of superb well appointed gardens, adjoining open fields plus countryside. Bicclescombe Park, with its many amenities sits at the end of our drive whilst nearby are the wonderful sandy beaches of Woolacombe, Saunton plus Croyde.
It's a very large house and offers a games room with a full sized snooker table, dart board, table tennis table plus piano. There's a large screen television with all Sky's channels plus a computer with internet access. And for the younger children, there are lots and lots of toys!
We had a large house and now we've got a large kitchen to go with it! The kitchen area has been completely overhauled and expanded. Granite surfaces, marble tiles, solid oak furniture plus stainless steel appliances, including a seven burner range and a very large American style fridge freezer make this a wonderful place to cook. With high and low level seating areas, a large flat screen television with Sky Plus, an ice maker and even a large capacity wine cooler, it's also a great place to socialise, supervise children, or just sit with a glass of wine and watch the chef at work.
With eight bedrooms this large holiday house sleeping twenty two and is ideal for a luxury self-catering extended family holiday or for several families or group of friends to get together. Or perhaps you are looking for a fantastic party venue to celebrate a 40th birthday, 50th birthday, or other special occasion. Or maybe you'd just like somewhere you can relax in style. Bicclescombe Grange will not disappoint.
Ground floor The entrance lobby opens into a wide hallway with feature arch and broad stairs leading up to the first floor. To the left are a large lounge with comfy sofas and an adjoining stone tiled conservatory with further seating. To the right is the dining room with a feature fireplace and seating for 26. The small conservatory leads off this. Further down the hall is the door to the brand new kitchen. From the kitchen a door leads to the double garage where a table tennis table and children's mini snooker table are set up. A further door leads to the drying room, an adjacent W/C and to the swimming pool. The magnificent 40ft x 20ft indoor heated swimming pool (depth 9ft to 3ft) offers a paved surround with seating areas. Large sliding doors open to a patio area overlooking the grounds. At the end of the hall is a door to The Blue Room: a ground floor family bedroom (double and bunk bed) with en-suite power shower, basin plus W/C. Sleeps four.
The first floor landing leads to The Master: a large family bedroom (king sized, single plus cot) and large en-suite bathroom with bath, separate power shower cubicle, basin and W/C. Sleeps three plus cot. The Green Room with double and bunk bed. Sleeps four. The Oak King Room with king sized bed. Sleeps two. The Oak Room with two single beds. Sleeps two. The Twin Room with two single beds. Sleeps two. A luxury family bathroom having bath with power shower enclosure combination, bidet, basin and W/C.
Behind the last door are 'The Secret Stairs' leading to the second floor Here there's a suite of rooms comprising a large open plan area with three single beds, a cot and also space to sit and relax or watch television; a double bedroom leading off the main area; a little room with the computer; plus a bathroom having bath with power shower attachment, basin plus W/C. Sleeps five plus cot.
The Grounds The sweeping drive leads to a large parking area. This large house is set within superb feature gardens stretching to three acres. There is a barbecue area, fenced ponds, waterfalls plus extensive terraced lawned areas from where one can sit and enjoy views over Ilfracombe, and out to sea.
A separate Games Room offers a full sized snooker table, dart board and a piano.
